"The Photogenic Process" By Angel Ashley Creator of 'Modeling Through The Lens' Video |
| How many times have you had a potential model in front of your lens,
only to find out that he or she is stiff and unresponsive. And Not Because They Choose To Be!
So how can you, as a photographer bring those gorgeous looks to life? The secret to being photogenic, is letting your Spirit come forth, through breathing, direction of it's purpose, releasing it without reservation through one's eyes, directly onto the lens. But how do I get them to release this energy onto my lens? First you must get them out of their head. Start by placing two chairs directly across from each other. From this point on, keep them focused on you, the lens, " The Process" and the feeling of the photos you are looking for. What you create here, is an atmosphere where your models are no longer thinking about their inadequacies, instead they begin to move in a moment to moment fluid natural rhythm as the two of you create magnificent pictures. So once "The Process" is started, you as the photographer can not stop directing and funneling the energy in the room. Begin by letting them know that the secret to a great photo is letting your spirit come forth.
Explain ( your eyes aways fixed on theirs ) that their spirit comes from
taking oxygen in through their nose, slowly filling their body and mixing with their chemical make up .
Voila ! Life is Born! Now, release this air ( your true and individual self ) up through your body,
until it pops out your eyes and directly onto the lens. As you release this air up through your body, think sexy or ecstatic or pretty,
devilish, powerful, playful, pouty, childlike, exotic, wild and crazy . The colors are endless and you as a photographer will be directing theses moods.
For example, "Cindy take a deep breath in, now as you release it, I want you to think beautiful. I want you to feel beautiful, taste beautiful, smell
beautiful. That's excellent! Now, let's try playful and childlike." Your model is no longer thinking about what she looks like,
if he's good enough or any of the self-doubting thoughts that can plague a shoot.
You are no longer waiting to see if it's going to happen. You are making it happen.
You are setting the mood. I wrote this article as if I were in the room with the model so that you, the
photographer would get a keen sense of the feelings that are needed to coax true energized life out.
It may sound dramatic but a story is what you want in your pictures. So familiarize and rehearse, in fact, demonstrate the above "Process"
It not only works for models but for anyone desiring a great looking photo,
as long as you are willing to trust yourself. If you think that you may have a problems conveying "The Photogenic Process,"
you can buy the video at: http://www.modelingthroughthelens.com
and sit your models down prior to the shoot and let them review it. But you as the photographer must still orchestrate the symphony. |
